Better Site Design | Coast Scapes | Why Build Green?

The University of Georgia (UGA) Marine Extension Service (MAREX) Coastal Sustainable Communities Program (CSCP) is a broad voluntary recognition program that is currently being developed to encourage and reward a variety of sustainable community development forms that use novel and integrated environmental protection measures. These measures include, but are not limited to (a) land use planning (b) site selection, design, and development in a sustainable manner (c) conservation landscaping (d) green stormwater/bioretention management practices (e) pervious surfaces (f) environmental habitat protection and remediation (g) invasive species eradication (h) water and energy efficiency (i) building design and development in a sustainable manner (j) innovation in sustainable design and construction and (k) waste stream management.
