Altamaha Riverkeeper

The M.K. Pentecost Ecology Fund Committee kindly granted the Marine Extension Service $5,000 to further our analytical assistance for the Altamaha and Satilla Riverkeeper. In order to accurately assess the problem and its relative risk to humans and the environment, it is necessary to take water samples to scientifically characterize the body of water and track the pollution source. With the funds from the Pentecost Ecology Fund, MAREX will provide the expertise and facilities needed to complete preliminary screening of environmental waters to determine if further more extensive monitoring and testing of the waters by either Riverkeeper is needed and justified.
