The Marine Education Center and Aquarium is a great destination for a fun-filled, educational trip for the whole family!
Families visiting the Marine Education Center and Aquarium have a chance to experience many different activities designed to teach children about their surrounding environment.
The Marine Education Center and Aquarium offers special events and public programs throughout the year. These events almost always include educational games and lectures appropriate for guests of all ages.
Public programs require a reservation and offer a range of activities to engage with visitors during their visit to the aquarium.
While visiting the UGA Aquarium, there are also several different things to do after your family has finished exploring. Adventerous children and parents will enjoy the nature trail and saltmarsh boardwalk, which are ADA approved. University of Georgia Marine Extension Service (MAREX) staff encourage guests to bring their lunch and enjoy a leisurely break underneath the oak and palm trees overlooking the Skidaway River at the provided picnic tables.
Every summer, MAREX offers summer camps appropriate for campers ages 4-14 years old. Each summer camp has age appropriate activities and campers are insured a low staff to camper ratio to make sure your child gets specialized attention.
Participating in citizen science programs is a fun way for families and scientifically minded children to make a positive impact in their local area, while also providing valuable information to MAREX research.
