MAREX offers two different types of marine science internships:
The Sea Grant Marine Education internships, maintained through a partnership with the Georgia Sea Grant, are designed for recent college graduates who would like teaching experience in marine science and coastal ecology.
The newest Academic Internship Program allows students from other University System of Georgia institutions to earn class credit for their work experience.
Interns work alongside scientists and educators of the University of Georgia Marine Extension Service staff to assist in educating the public about marine science. Internships are available to college graduates with a Bachelor of Science degree. Graduates with majors in environmental studies, marine/natural science, education or other science concentrations may be particularly interested in pursuing these opportunities.
Both types of internships are held at the Marine Education Center and Aquarium near Savannah, Georgia, and interns will gain valuable experience and establish networking contacts along the Georgia coast and beyond.
